Dr. Ken Adelman
Dr. Adelman is a board-certified psychiatrist with over 25 years of clinical experience working with adolescents and adults. He obtained his MD at Temple University and his residency training at UCLA in 1992 before moving on to hold faculty positions at University of Michigan, Tufts University, University of Massachusetts and Boston University. Since moving to the Boston area in 1996 he has held clinical and administrative positions in hospital and outpatient settings in both the public and private sector. His areas of interest include neuroeconomics, Darwinian medicine, cognitive neuroscience and psychiatric informatics. At Square, he seeks to leverage his diverse experience and interests to develop individualized, understandable and achievable plans of care for his patients.
Dr. Adelman joined Square Medical Group in 2018 and sees patients at their Watertown location. He is certified to provide buprenorphine treatment and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Cynthia S. Carter
Cynthia S. Carter, MD is Certified in the practice of Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She received a Bachelor of Science from Howard University in Washington, DC and medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She received psychiatric training at Yale University with an emphasis in Addictions and Forensic Psychiatry. She completed a Fellowship in Forensic Psychiatry at Case Western Reserve University.
Her areas of interest include Addictions (she is certified in the prescription of Suboxone), the interface between Law and Psychiatry, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Psychotic Disorders, Eating Disorders, Women’s Issues, psychopharmacology and Cross-Cultural Issues. She speaks English and Haitian Creole. Dr. Carter sees Square Medical Group patients in the Watertown office. She is certified to provide Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
Dr. Kishanlal Chakrabarti
Dr. Kishanlal Chakrabarti graduated from Harvard University Medical School residency program in 1979. He has worked in various facilities as a psychiatrist including Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, Taunton State Hospital and Tewksbury State Hospital. Dr. Chakrabarti has also worked in the acute inpatient units at Arbour Hospital (JP), Arbour HRI (Brookline), St. Elizabeth’s Hospital (Brighton) and Holy Family Hospital (Methuen). Dr. Chakrabarti enjoys being involved in the communities of the Greater Boston area.
Joining Square Medical Group in 2016, Dr. Chakrabarti is accepting new patients for general psychiatric and addiction issues. He practices in the Watertown location.
Miles G. Cunningham
Miles G. Cunningham earned a PhD from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1993 specializing in neural transplantation and developmental neurobiology. He earned an MD from Harvard Medical School in 1995 with a special interest in neuropsychiatry and behavioral neurology. During medical school he founded Asniya, a philanthropic program designed to introduce medicine and teach preventative care to Native American children living on remote and underprivileged reservations. Dr. Cunningham completed his residency training at the Massachusetts General and McLean Hospitals, and he is the founder and principle investigator of an independent scientific initiative, The Laboratory for Neural Reconstruction, in which emotional circuitry and psychopathology are studied via precision engraftment of genetically engineered neural cells. He is the inventor of numerous research devices and methods as well as human instrumentation for restorative neurosurgery. Dr. Cunningham is board-certified in adult psychiatry and he completed a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry at McLean Hospital. He has served as a staff physician at McLean Hospital since 2001 where he treats patients with diverse psychiatric disorders including addiction. He is also an attending for the McLean Hospital Clerkship in Neuropsychiatry and Behavioral Neurology (NBN) where his responsibilities include supervising and mentoring medical students and residents in psychiatry. Dr. Cunningham has been on staff at Square Medical Group in Watertown since 2014 as a certified buprenorphine provider offering patients his expertise in psychopharmacology and brief eclectic psychotherapy.
Dr. Gregory Labun
Dr. Gregory Labun is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Tufts University Medical School, Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He completed his Residency training in psychiatry at Tufts Medical Center.
Dr. Labun has special interest and expertise in Psychopharmacology and Addiction and Forensic Psychiatry. He has years of clinical experience working with patients undergoing court-ordered forensic evaluations on an inpatient basis. He has administrative and leadership experience serving as a Medical Director of an Acute Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. Dr. Labun has provided numerous forensic consultations in civil commitments and guardianship cases as an Independent Medical Examiner / Expert Witness in his private practice.
Dr. Labun sees patients at Square Medical Group, in both Watertown and Weymouth, for general psychiatric and addiction issues. Dr. Labun is certified to provide Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatment.
Dr. Susan Stern
Dr. Susan Stern is an Internal Medicine physician, specializing in Addiction Medicine and Behavioral Health. She earned her BA from Princeton University and her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. She completed residency training at Tufts New England Medical Center and The Cambridge Hospital. Dr. Stern is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She has been licensed to practice in MA since 1997.
Dr. Stern has practiced at Harvard University Health Services and Physicians Healthy Weight Center in NH. She joined Square Medical Group in March of 2018 at the Watertown location. Her areas of interest include Women’s Health and Eating Disorders in addition to her work with Substance Use Disorder patients where she brings a compassionate approach to health and wellness. She is certified to provide buprenorphine treatment.
Dr. Marcia Tanur
Dr. Marcia Tanur is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She earned her BA from SUNY Binghampton Harpur College and her MD from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. Dr. Tanur completed both an Internship and her Residency at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center.
During her more than 25 years of experience, Dr. Tanur has held a variety of positions as a Primary Care Family Physician, Attending Physician and Coordinator of Care in the Greater Boston area. She has worked with patients of all age groups from infant through geriatric. Dr. Tanur has extensive medical volunteer experience, both nationally and internationally.
Dr. Tanur has been practicing Addiction Medicine at Square Medical Group’s Watertown location since 2017. She is certified to provide Suboxone Treatment to patients with Substance Use Disorder.
OUR NURSE PRACTITIONERS
Anna Coulstring is an ANCC board-certified Nurse Practitioner who joined Square Medical Group – Weymouth in 2011. She received her Bachelor & Master of Science in Nursing from MGH Institute of Health Professions. Her clinical interests include addiction medicine, influence of the media on health & body image and obesity/weight management.
Anna has been working in primary care & addiction medicine since 2010. She currently provides medication management & therapeutic support to patients with Substance Use Disorders. She is a certified Buprenorphine prescriber and also supports patients on medications including Vivitrol & Sublocade. She wholeheartedly believes in supporting patients struggling with addiction to not be defined by this disease and gives them the resources needed to thrive in all areas of their lives. As a lifelong resident of the South Shore she is enjoying the privilege of giving back to her community through her current role at Square Medical.
Marlyn Jules has been a Family Nurse Practitioner for over twenty-one years. She joined Square Medical Group in October of 2011 and practices in the Weymouth office, delivering care with compassion and bringing hope to patients with ‘substance use disorders.’
She acquired her Master’s Degree from Northeastern University and received her clinical training at Beth Israel, Children’s Hospital and numerous clinics in the Boston area. Marlyn has received the “Clinical Excellence Award in Nursing” from the Massachusetts Nurses Association. She has worked as an adjunct faculty member for nursing at the Roxbury Community College, teaching clinical and laboratory components for over twenty-one years. She is an avid gardener and brisk walker.
Marlyn has served in the roles of nursing supervisor, manager, educator, mentor and Quality Assurance professional. She enjoyed being the featured speaker at nursing graduations in the US and as a nursing workshop facilitator in the Caribbean.
Anna Newman is a board certified Nurse Practitioner with over 10 years working with addictions and mental health in varying capacities. Her professional experience began as a mental health counselor in 2007, with continued experience as a registered nurse before practicing as a nurse practitioner in 2014. Anna holds a B.S. in Psychology, B.S. in Nursing and M.S. in Nursing from Northeastern University, and has also worked as adjunct faculty to undergraduate and master’s level students in the areas of Public Health and Mental Health Nursing. Anna has provided care in a variety of treatment settings including outpatient, hospital, residential and partial hospital programs with an interest in addictions with co-occurring mental illness. She is a part of the International Nurses Society of Addictions, and provides medication assisted treatments for substance use disorders such as extended release Naltrexone (Vivitrol) and Buprenorphine (Suboxone). She joined Square Medical Group in 2018, working at Recovery Centers of America at Danvers.
Kim Quinn is a board-certified family nurse practitioner with 7 years of clinical experience working with children and adults. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Maine, and her Master’s Degree from Old Dominion University. Since moving to the Boston area in 2012, she has held clinical, educational, and administrative positions in the inpatient and outpatient setting. Her areas of interest include Addiction and Primary Care Medicine. At Square, she seeks to leverage her family practice and addiction treatment background to provide a holistic individualized approach to providing care for each of her patients.
Kim joined Square Medical Group in 2019 and sees patients at their Weymouth location, as well as an affiliated IOP program. She is certified to provide buprenorphine treatment.
Katie Rand is a board certified Nurse Practitioner with over 16 years’ experience working in the field of healthcare. Her professional experience began in 2002 as a Registered Nurse working in multiple departments including neurology/stroke rehab, cardiology and post-operative services. She obtained her MS in Nursing from Regis College after she saw the need for psychiatric services in the community. Katie has worked in various treatment settings including outpatient, partial hospitalization programs and also as a psychiatric liaison to patients needing psychiatric management while on medical/surgical units. Katie provides medication assisted treatment for those struggling with substance use disorders. Her other areas of clinical interest include mood disorders and geriatric psychiatry. She joined Square Medical Group in 2019, working at Recovery Centers of America at Danvers.
Sean Markey, Ed.D. is a Massachusetts licensed psychologist with a professional interest in psychological testing and diagnosis. Dr. Markey earned his doctorate at American International College. He completed his pre-doctoral internship through the State of Connecticut’s Department of Children and Families, and his post-doctoral internship at Arbour-Fuller Hospital in South Attleboro, MA. He worked in private practice in Worcester from 2011 to 2017, joined Square Medical Group part time in 2016 and full time in 2017. He sees patients at the Watertown location. Dr. Markey performs neuropsychological evaluations with special attention to frontal lobe functioning, and is interested in diagnostically relevant concepts such as free will vs. determinism, complex behavioral patterns vs. diseases, and psychological vs. medical diagnoses.
OUR CLINICAL STAFF
Lanre Adekeye, bilingual in English and Yoruba, has over 20 years of clinical work, including supervisory positions. Adekeye specializes in Dual Diagnosis, OCD, Eating disorders, counseling AIDS patients, addictions, couples and families, and group therapy. He also works with children age five through adolescence, with a specialty in ADHD. He completed his graduate education in Counseling Psychology at Lesley University where he specialized in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Spirituality. He is a proud member of the American Society of Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP), and the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association. Lanre sees Square Medical Group patients in both the Watertown and Weymouth locations.
Patricia Larson LICSW is a Board Certified Licensed Independent Social Worker who has been in practice for over 30 years. She graduated from Salem State College with a BA in Psychology and an MSW from Boston College School of Social Work. She did her Internships at Tewksbury State Hospital and at McLean Hospital in the Psychotic Disorders Unit. She has worked at the Carney Hospital in Dorchester, MA doing both Inpatient and Outpatient Work. She also worked at Charles River Counseling Services in Newton, MA for many years doing Outpatient Work.
Pat specializes in working with Adults around Anxiety, Depressive Disorders, and Substance Abuse. She also enjoys working with Clients in Bereavement and with Schizophrenia. She has been with Square Medical since July 2015 and works in the Watertown Office.
