From a psychiatric practice founded in 2008 to a multidisciplinary behavioral health organization serving communities across Massachusetts.
Our Beginnings and Clinical Foundation
Square Medical Group was founded in 2008 by Dr. Natalie Lender, a psychiatrist with a focus on psychopharmacology for co-occurring disorders.
From its beginnings as a clinical practice, the organization was built around a central principle: patients struggling with mental health conditions and substance-use disorders are best served when those conditions are treated together rather than through fragmented systems of care.
Dr. Lender was joined by her son, Jeff Gershman, in 2010.
As she focused on clinical excellence, Jeff focused on programmatic expansion and administrative functions.
Over the years, Square Medical Group grew beyond traditional outpatient psychiatric care, developing a multidisciplinary model that brings together psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, and other clinical professionals. Its services evolved to include medication management, therapy, TMS, IOP/PHP and Residential Services.
Growth and Expansion
As the organization grew, it broadened both its geographic footprint and the levels of care available to its patients.

2012 –
Primary Care and GYN Services added for Patient-Centered Home model – this model would later close unfortunately due to financial pressures
2015 –
Square transitions from Group Practice to Social Services Agency
2016 –
First IOP/PHP or other structured program
2022 –
First Co-Occurring Residential Program opens for 16xMen in Waltham MA called the River House
2024 –
Framingham Opens as the second COERRS for men called Summer House
2025 –
First Womans COERRS opens in Weymouth MA called the Gayle House
2026 –
2nd Waltham home opens called the Ember House

Today, Square Medical Group brings together psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, and other clinical professionals to provide individualized, coordinated care.
Our services include medication management, individual and group therapy, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), intensive outpatient and partial hospitalization programs (IOP/PHP), and residential treatment.
With locations across Massachusetts, we remain committed to the principle that inspired our founding: helping individuals receive the coordinated mental health and substance use treatment they need.
